Getting to Lincoln Park

Lincoln Park audiences have shown up as early and an hour before showtimes but typically 15 minutes prior is just fine. There are some amusements that you might enjoy before and after show times as well. See the entertainment schedule below for details.

Driving Directions
Lincoln Park 1301 W Hampton Ave, Milwaukee, WI
This is the official address for the park, the Blatz Pavilion and the Schultz Water Park. It is also the address that will also get you closest to Shakespeare in the Park.
Lincoln Park also has addresses for the golf course and for the canoe and kayak launch.

Performance location within Lincoln park
A shady hillside meadow southeast of the Blatz Pavilion and east of the David F. Schultz Aquatic Center. From the parking lot, that's behind the Blatz.

Getting around at Lincoln Park

Drop-off
♿ For mobility access, the best drop-off is at the outer edge of the circular driveway for the Blatz Pavilion. Just before the water park, there is a sidewalk that leads to the right / west of the driveway. That sidewalk is your best mobility accessway. Parking Plentiful parking is available in the lot. Park nearest the lot entrance since you'll be walking that direction. ♿ Accessible spaces are available in the lot. Pathways The stairs to the north side of the Blatz are a little steep but they have handrails. ♿ The sidewalk around the Blatz Pavilion and water park is nicely paved and smooth. There are a few ups and downs along the way but mostly flat. Once you reach the performance space, it is near the sidewalk with a short distance of grass that you will need to traverse. |

Use the stairs to the north side of the Blatz Pavilion
♿ Use the drop-off described and follow the pathway on the west side of the building. It will take you around behind the building.

Sun and Shade*
The performance area at Lincoln Park is a combination of sun and shade. Where it's shady, it's good and shady. It's a good park to shift the stage to follow the shade. Did you bring a chair* Just a reminder even though it's probably too late since you're already here. Check-In / Info Tent* At Lincoln Park, it's located at the performance space, at the back of the audience seating area, near the sidewalk.
Seating Surface Audience seating is on grass. Depending on the stage location, it might be on a slight incline. Restrooms ♿ An accessible, portable restroom is available and is located near the sidewalk to the north of Shakespeare's Meadow.

Picnic Tables.
There are no picnic tables near the performance space at Lincoln Park If you bring your own folding table, please set up outside of the audience seating area.

Well-behaved pets and service animals are welcome at Lincoln Park As a matter of fact, dogs seem to really enjoy Shakespeare and SitP cast and crew definitely love dogs. *----- Details are on the Main SitP page -----

1:40 PM ... All About Richard III The low-down, the gossip, the history, and oh, the drama. 2:00 PM ... Richard III (Puppet Edition) Approximately 55 minutes. About 3:30 PM ... Reset the stage reconfiguration and shift to follow the shade.
4:15 PM ... All About The Merry Wives of Windsor Our version, and what we’ve gotten ourselves into. 4:30 PM ... Early Music Now Approximately 25 minutes. 5:00 PM ... The Merry Wives of Windsor: Falstaff’s Tale With live musical accompaniment by Early Music Now. Approximately 40 minutes. |
Sun, Stages, Shade, Shift*
The Seating and Stage Configurations and the Stage Location Will Change Between Shows Sun... The audience seating area at Lincoln Park is a combination of sun and shade. In years past, we attempted to find a happy medium - seeking shade for both the 2:00 and 5:00 performances. That was less than successful. Stages... Richard III at 2:00 uses an intimate thrust-style stage where the audience sits on 3 sides of the action. After the show, the stage crew will reconfigure the stage by turning the thrust into more traditional proscenium set-up. Shade... Because we have to reconfigure the stage and seating area after the 2:00 show, we're going to shift to follow the shade. At Lincoln Park, that might mean it will end up behind you. Let's find out together. Shift... Just relax while we make the shift. Please re-join the fun after we're done.

Fun-Facts About Lincoln Park
- One of Milwaukee’s largest parks. Spanning approximately 310 acres, Lincoln Park is among the most expansive—featuring a golf course, aquatic center, athletic fields, bike trails, and natural green spaces along the Milwaukee River
- Once farmland and village lands. Before city annexation in 1929, the Lincoln Park area was a mix of farms and hamlets—most notably "Schwartzburg"—bordered by burgeoning industrial towns like North Milwaukee and Glendale
- German-Russian heritage. In the early 20th century, Lincoln Park became home to many German-Russian immigrants, who worked in local industry and shaped the residential character of the area by 1920
- River cleanup revitalization. The Milwaukee River running through the park was historically contaminated, but thanks to the then newly formed Friends of Lincoln Park, a Great Lakes Legacy Act and other restoration efforts, the river and adjacent parkland have been significantly cleaned up and restored
