In 2020 Optimist Theatre's Shakespeare in the Park, like many, many other theatres, had to cancel its live, in-person performances.
Determined to still bring our loyal audiences a show, and to keep our cast and production team working, we decided to do something new for us--and the No Holds Bard project was born.
We pivoted to a filmed web series of Pericles, Prince of Tyre, featuring a diverse cast and safe, socially-distanced, outdoor film shoots. (We even threw in some animation and puppets!)
The play was broken into 16 segments or "episodes", and we shared 2 episodes every other Wednesday through a live hosted event on Facebook and YouTube. The episodes remain on YouTube for you to watch and enjoy!
A project this new required a whole new website, so, to read more and to watch the show, please click here to go to the No Holds Bard website.
Note: Clicking on the link above will open a new window to a different website (it's still us though). Also, though we are back to in-person shows (hurray!), that does not mean we've forgotten the No Holds Bard project and website--we'll be back with more to share on it in 2022.
