Getting to Sherman Park
Arrival Lead Time
Historically, Sherman Park has plenty of room, so there’s usually no need to arrive especially early unless you’d like first choice of seating. Arriving 15 minutes before showtime should allow enough time to park and walk to the performance space. We encourage you to be seated in time to enjoy the pre-show chats about Richard III and The Merry Wives of Windor. Take a look at the entertainment schedule below for details.

Your Driving Route
(Recommended route) 📍 3000 N Sherman Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53210 This address will get you to Sherman Park. The park is basically a giant rectangle let's get you to the street that's closest to the performance space. Sherman Park is bordered clockwise by W Burleigh St, Sherman Boulevard, N 41st St, and W Locust St. The performance space is closest to the corner of W Locust and N 41st. Alternate route Same address but instead of street parking near the performance, park in the Boys and Girls Club lot between the tennis courts and baseball field

Getting around at Sherman Park
Performance location within Sherman park
This is one of the prettiest locations with very large trees and lots of space. Tucked into an area with lots of historic homes.
The park is bordered clockwise by W Burleigh St, Sherman Boulevard, N 41st St, and W Locust St. The performance space is toward the center of the park and closest to the corner of W Locust and N 41st.

There is street parking along Locust and 41st.

Walking
From Locust and 41st, it's an walk along any pathway leading toward the middle of the park. You might even see us from the street.

Enjoying the Park

Sun and Shade*
Sherman Park is one of our shadiest locations, under a large grove of mature tress. We will be still be following the shade between shows, so let's do our best to make everyone comfortable. Did you bring a chair* Just a reminder even though it's probably too late since you're already here. Check-In / Info Tent* At Sherman Park it's located behind the audience seating area near the performance space.

Picnics
You’re welcome to picnic before, during, and after the show. There are no picnic tables near the performance space, but you’re welcome to set up nearby.
Concessions Light snacks will be available for a suggested donation starting around 1:00 PM Pets*
Well-behaved pets and service animals are welcome at Sherman Park. As a matter of fact, we know that well-behaved dogs love Shakespeare and the SitP cast and crew definitely love dogs. |
Restrooms
An portable, accessible restroom will be available for Shakespeare in the Park guests. This unit is rented specifically for the event and is not part of general park facilities.

1:00 PM ... Games and activities open Available all afternoon, including....
1:40 PM ... All About Richard III The low-down, the gossip, the history, and oh, the drama. 2:00 PM ... Richard III (Puppet Edition) Approximately 55 minutes. About 3:30 PM ... Reset the stage reconfiguration and shift to follow the shade.
4:15 PM ... All About The Merry Wives of Windsor Our version, and what we’ve gotten ourselves into. 4:30 PM ... Early Music Now Approximately 25 minutes. 5:00 PM ... The Merry Wives of Windsor: Falstaff’s Tale With live musical accompaniment by Early Music Now. Approximately 40 minutes. |
Sun, Stages, Shade, Shift*
The Seating and Stage Configurations and the Stage Location Will Change Between Shows Sun... The audience seating area at Sherman Park is underneath trees however, in years past, we attempted to find a spot that provided shade for both the 2:00 and 5:00 performances. That was moderately successful but we can do better. Stages... Richard III at 2:00 uses an intimate thrust-style stage where the audience sits on 3 sides of the action. After the show, the stage crew will reconfigure the stage by turning the thrust into more traditional proscenium set-up. Shade... Because we have to reconfigure the stage and seating area after the 2:00 show, we're going to shift to follow the shade. At Sherman Park, that might mean it will assume a different angle. Let's find out together. Shift... Just relax while we make the shift. Please re-join the fun after we're done.

Fun-Facts About Sherman Park
- Named after General Sherman – Originally called “Perrigo Park” when acquired in 1891, it was soon renamed Sherman Park in honor of Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman, completing a trio of iconic city parks alongside Lake Park and Washington Park
- Once farmland turned flourishing suburb – In the late 1890s, German immigrants began developing homesteads and charming Tudor- and Craftsman-style homes. By 1900–1920, the area attracted middle-class professionals, along with Irish, English, Polish, and Jewish families, creating one of Milwaukee’s earliest “melting pot” neighborhoods
- Architectural gems – Nearly every home in Sherman Park was built between 1910 and 1930, with a remarkable variety of styles from brick-and-stone Tudors and American Foursquares to bungalow cottages
- Strong community spirit – The Sherman Park Community Association, founded in 1971, emerged to unite residents around local development, cultural diversity, and neighborhood preservation. Still going strong and making a difference, visit them at https://shermanpark.org/
