It takes a lot of folks to get us on the road....
Optimist Theatre pays all of our team members. For 2025, we're hiring....
Production crew (VIP!)
Production crew members are the backbone of our touring shows. At every park, Optimist works to craft a quality theatre experience from stage to sound to audience. Production crew members work as a team to set everything up, change scenes, pack it up and do it all over again. Within the world of production crew, we also need someone who can drive a truck and lift a generator out of the back of said truck. Literally, some heavy lifting may be involved. If you are excited about crafting the world every Saturday and Sunday, you want to be in the production crew.
Seeking two more crew members as of 3-19-25.
Costume designer (candidates under consideration - still taking inquiries
Optimist hires professional actors and has set a standard for presenting them in their best light. Key to that effort is costuming. Touring an abridged show frequently means one actor playing several roles, which offers a unique and fun challenge for our costume designer.
Wardrobe
All the work that goes into our costumes needs commensurate care - especially when that costume has to stand up to the rigors of outdoor theatre. Our wardrobe person ensures that the cast continues to be beautiful and functional. Job includes weekly care and is a member of the backstage crew on show days. You need basic sewing skills.
