When Prospero’s treacherous sibling exiled him from his dukedom with his infant daughter Miranda, little did anyone know that Prospero would find his way to a mysterious island where the pair would survive together. As Miranda grew over the years into a fierce and beautiful young woman, unaware of her secret past, Prospero worked to become a powerful sorcerer with the help of the island’s magical spirits. Now the time has come for Prospero’s great plan to be set into motion, securing Miranda’s rightful future…and Prospero’s revenge.

It seems oddly appropriate that our first Shakesepeare in the Park production is the last play Shakespeare wrote. The Tempest is about magic, forgiveness and redemption. But from Prospero bestowing freedon on Ariel to the drunken Stephano sharing his precious bottle of wine, it is also a play about gifts. The Tempest is our gift to you.
